Alexander
and Betsy
Since meeting and playing together for the first time in Alexander Chernyshev's
homeland, Petrozavodsk, Russia, Betsy Husby and Alexander Chernyshev
have delighted audiences in the U.S. and Russia. After competing in
the prestigious Tchaikovsky Competition in 1986, Betsy returned to Russia
four years later to perform Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations with the
Petrozavodsk Symphony Orchestra. It was then that she met the formidable
pianist, Alexander Chernyshev. Dr. Chernyshev holds many distinguished
honors from the former Soviet Union, and has performed worldwide. Dr.
Husby is principal cellist with the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra,
and both artists are on the faculty of the University of Minnesota,
Duluth. The duo is known for its emotionally charged performances, sense
of excitement, and love for the music.
